Vatican City: In his recent address at St. Peter’s Square, Pope Leo XIV made a heartfelt appeal for humanitarian assistance and an immediate end to the ongoing conflict in Gaza, describing the situation as "more alarming and painful than ever before."
Speaking to the public, Pope Leo XIV urged the international community to allow "fair and adequate humanitarian aid" into Gaza. He emphasized the urgent need to end hostilities and war, highlighting that "children, the elderly, women, and the sick in Gaza are paying the heaviest price."
This marks the first major public statement from the 69-year-old Robert Prevost since his elevation as the 267th Pontiff of the Roman Catholic Church. In this address, he once again raised his voice in support of the Palestinian people and called for an immediate ceasefire in the conflict-ridden region.
The Pope’s statement comes at a time when global concern continues to grow over the humanitarian crisis unfolding in Gaza.
